God is life. In Him, we live and move and have our being. Dust was just dust until God breathed life into it. The body returns to dust when God’s spirit leaves it. We are nothing without Him.
The tree of life represents God—always an option presented; never a decision forced.
God “is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:15-16).
God alone has immortality. We mortals may put on His immortality when He returns. That’s our choice to make in this lifetime.
“So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory” (1 Corinthians 15:54).
